What is sensitivity in the teeth?
When hot, cold, sugar or sour food-drinks are taken into the mouth, a sudden reaction occurs in the teeth; pain-less begins. This pain is sharp, sudden and deep. Sensitivities other than caries and old fillings are caused by root surfaces that are exposed by gingival recession. Normally, the dentine (a second and important layer of the tooth) is surrounded by enamel and cement (special layer covering the root surface). Although the reason for the sensitivity of the teeth is not fully understood, the sensitivity of the tooth to the nerve is transmitted through the microns.
Factors causing tooth sensitivity:
· Hard and traumatic tooth brushing (erodes mine and cement)
· Gingival recession
· Gum disease (swelling and inflamed gums also lead to sensitivity)
· Broken teeth
· Teeth grinding - clamping
· Plaque accumulation
Is there anything that can be done at home against vulnerability?
· Oral hygiene should be considered. (you should carefully clean your teeth and mouth)
· Soft bristle brush can be used. (less damage to hard layers of the tooth)
· Sensitizer special toothpaste can be used. (effective results can be taken when used regularly)
· Food must be taken into consideration. (the enamel layer is soluble as a result of frequent consumption of foods containing excess acid)
Fluorinated dental care products should be used.
What is the professional approach?
· Exposed root surfaces are isolated
· Root surfaces can be treated with fluoride varnishes
· Restorations can be made with filling materials instead of the toothed layers
